The figure of Jesus has no doubt shaped history. His impact has been seen and felt all throughout the globe and history. He has the world's leading religion attributed to him, we date our time around him, the cross on which he historically died is seen everywhere from tattoos to chain necklaces. No man in history has been depicted in more paintings (some of them pretty weird/creepy-with eyes moving and everything), sung about in more songs, and had more books attributed to himself in the history of mankind. We even find Jesus today in mainstream media in form of blockbuster movies (The Passion of the Christ) and secular music (rapper Kanye West “Jesus Walks” ect.) Simply put, no guy has stirred up such a fuss as this Jesus character.
-He was historically crucified by his own people under the authority of the Roman government.
-Group of people who followed him claimed to see him resurrected. Believed so, so strongly that they would stake their lives on it. Later facing extreme persecution and most of them dying grisly martyrs deaths. People throughout the centuries would follow their example to this day, suffering martyrdom and persecution in the name of Jesus. In fact, following the teachings of Jesus (Christianity) is still outlawed and opposed in some parts of the world.
-All sorts of dark history have been attributed to being done in his name (Crusades, Salem Witch Trials, enslavement and murder of Native tribes by Spanish Conquistadors, ect.)
-Some call him God and Savior. Others call him a great teacher, moral example, or just a fun loving hippy. Other still say he was a prophet, or possibly a crazy, delusional man, and still others say he was a myth.
